Marble

A body of marble that only replaces stone and dirt, so the terrain carves it: under a hill it stays buried; at a cliff edge it shows its face. Tumbled pebbles of the same variety lie on top.

Marble does not drop itself: a pickaxe yields crushed marble, Silk Touch excepted. For clean blocks, cut it with the petrol saw.

Crushed marble becomes tumbled marble: one crushed gives two tumbled. Nothing runs backwards: for a clean block, you cut one.

Tumbled marble places in quarter-block layers, and grows with every click.

Every form crafts normally, or on a stonecutter with no waste. A pillar laid on its side keeps its flutes and veins along the shaft.

The only way, with Silk Touch, to bring back whole blocks. It needs three things:

• fuel (any gasoline container, or a lava bucket);
• a hose hooked to a water tank, within ten blocks: the line is visible and its slack shows the room left; beyond that, it snaps;
• water at the end. Dry, the saw only yields rubble.

Right-click: the dashboard (water, fuel gauge, ignition). Left-click revs the blade.

Crafted separately from the saw. Diamond lasts four times longer and cuts twice as fast.

It digs 3 by 3 into the face you look at, with an outline of the blocks that will go. Held in both hands, it kicks with every blow.

The bit overheats after 108 blocks in a row, and digs one block at a time while it cools (five seconds). Bits are crafted separately: when one dies, you keep the hammer.
