No. The beta is free and open. It is there to put the server through its paces with real players before the public launch.

The client pack contains the installer and every mod: double-clicking INSTALLER.bat does the job. A dedicated launcher, which will install and update everything by itself, is coming after the beta.

It is included in the pack and strongly recommended — roleplay happens mostly by voice. You can play without a microphone: text chat is still available.
